DeShawn Stevenson doesn't like Mike Miller's choice of footwear
New Wizards forward Mike Miller(notes) recently wore LeBron James' Nike Zoom Soldier III kicks to practice and was told (jokingly, we think) by teammate DeShawn Stevenson(notes), "We don't wear these around here."
Golden State Warriors swingman Stephen Jackson(notes) has been suspended for two exhibition games for conduct detrimental to the team.
The team said the suspension is for Jackson’s behavior Friday night against the Lakers. He picked up five fouls plus a technical foul in less than 10 minutes of action. He went to the locker room from the bench and never returned.
Jackson will miss Saturday night’s game against Phoenix in Indian Wells, Calif., and Monday’s game in Los Angeles against the Clippers.
Jackson has been unhappy with Golden State’s decline since reaching the second round of the 2007 playoffs. He was fined $25,000 by the NBA last month for publicly requesting a trade.
Garcia will miss at least four months after undergoing surgery on his injured forearm and wrist. He was injured lifting weights Friday and had surgery the next day at UC Davis Medical Center to repair a broken bone in his right forearm and ligament damage to his wrist. The team says he will be in a cast for eight weeks.
